When asked why he would like to run for the Windsor Town Council, Mr. Govoni stated, "As a Councilman I have the opportunity to represent all of the citizens of Windsor. I strongly believe it is important for citizens to be involved and informed of the issues that will affect them and it is the responsibility of the elected officials to make sure the information provided is clear and accurate. Our citizens’ suggestions and concerns need to be heard and respected in order to make decisions that will best serve our community." Currently the issues of speeding, truck traffic, train horns, open space at the redevelopment site in Wilson have been in the forefront.
Mr. Govoni through his profession and position as a Public Works Employee and Tree Warden has had the opportunity to be actively involved with businesses, civic organizations and projects within town. He especially proud of obtaining the America The Beautiful Grant for Windsor were the Town received 38 Elm Trees that were planted near School Buildings and Fire Houses to provide shade.
He is a former board member of The Hartford Co-operative Education Council and is past President of The Tree Wardens Association of CT. He is a member of DEEP Commissioner Dan Esty's State Vegetative Task Force. He is a proud recipient of the Fred Borman Outstanding Urban Forester professional award.
Yearly when the Legislature is in session he has given oral testimony in front of committees that have bills before them that will have an impact on the citizens of Windsor.
Through his profession Mr. Govoni served the Windsor community for almost four decades and three terms as a Town Councilor. He is dedicated to the citizens of our town and would be honored to serve another term.
