years with the department, Bernard has served as a School Resource Officer, Field Training Officer, Driving Simulator Instructor, and on the Negotiating Committee. Bernard is also certified in Crisis Intervention and Emergency Medical Dispatching.
Bernard is active in the community and well known for his involvement with the Windsor Police Cadets, of which he serves as Director. The program’s mission is to develop responsible youth; encourage academic excellence, leadership, teamwork, and volunteerism; and offer young men and women insight into the field of law enforcement. Prior to this, Bernard coached for the Windsor International Little League and Windsor Instructional Basketball League and was a member of the Hayden Station Fire Company. He was selected as the Windsor Exchange Club’s “Officer of the Year” in 2006 and a recipient of the Windsor Human Relations Commission and Citizens for a United Windsor’s “Bridge-Builder” award in 2008.
