Ronald C. Eleveld
|
Master and Trustee of Washington Lodge #70 AF & AM. Mr. Eleveld served with the Windsor Town Council from 2007-2011 and the Windsor Board of Education from 2013-2015.
After being elected in 2013 Mr. Eleveld was appointed as Windsor’s representative to the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) governing body. Shortly thereafter he was asked to join the CREC Charitable Foundation Board of Directors which he accepted. In 2014 he was elected to the CREC Board of Directors, and in 2015 he was elected to the position of Secretary-Treasurer. Ron was also very involved in the successful search for a new Executive Director while working with CREC. No longer being an elected representative to CREC having lost his BoE seat in 2015, Ron had to resign from the REC Board of Directors. However CREC requested he stay on as a member of the CREC Foundation Board.
When Ron was asked why he was interested in running for the Windsor Board of Education he responded:
“It is imperitive in these trying times to start to look at issues and the way things are done in education. The State is in dire difficulties and the Governor has and is threatening major cuts to education grants for Windsor. The voters, taxpayers, parents and teachers understand that we can’t continue business as usual in these trying times.”
“My belief as it relates to education: Is that EVERY CHILD should be educated to the maximum potential of that CHILD. We need to provide learning that produces the best potential educational outcome for each child.”
“The Board of Education needs to be even more accountable to the Windsor taxpayers that pay the cost of education, the professional staff that utilizes those dollars in the mission of educating our children, to the parents whose children benefit from our quality educators, and most importantly the children/students that have a lifetime benefit from a quality education.”
He continued to say: “Today’s school system needs great managers that can lead, great educators that can teach, and parental involvement to be successful. This means we need individuals working in partnership with great educators to make Windsor the envy of the State. We need to be responsive to the concerns of the parents, and we need to involve parents that feel they have been left out. This aspect I fully understand from personal experience.”
