team and raced for the sailing club. At home he was a (10+ years) volunteer with the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department. He is currently Treasurer of the Hayden Station Fire Company and Secretary for the Friends of Northwest Park. His other activities includes Ultimate Frisbee and Extreme Croquet.
Brian has a strong sense of community and wishes to give back, especially to the community that gave so much to him. He participated in Boy Scouts and several sports leagues throughout his school days. Brian has also been a “big brother” with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, has put together teams to assist with Rebuilding Day in Hartford and has volunteered with the Special Olympics.
Brian has always had a passion for the school system and is well suited to continue to serve on the Board of Education. In addition to his Master’s degree in Secondary Education, he has experience as a classroom teacher. Currently he has oversight responsibilities for a budget of approximately a million dollars at Pfizer Inc. and has also worked as a business analyst and project manager.
In his own words, “Windsor is full of potential and while we are earmarked as an Alliance District (a designation for Connecticut's 30 lowest-performing districts), I believe we can not only become a good school system, but a GREAT one. As a school system we need appropriate and timely communications with our parents and guardians, involvement from the community and transparency in decision making. We also need to be fiscally accountable and understand that increasing the budget is not in itself a solution. Above all, the Board of Education needs to never lose sight of the fact that the safety and development of our students is why we are here.”
