He is a member and Past Master, past Trustee, and current Auditor of Washington Lodge #70 AF & AM. He is also a Rotary representative/member of the Shad Fest Bureau, and Incorporator, and President of the Shad Fest Foundation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CREC Foundation. Mr. Eleveld has served on the Board of Education, 2013-2015, and 2017-2021 and on the Town Council 2007-2011 and is currently serving on the Town Council in his 2nd term and as a member of the Finance Committee. He is committed to keeping Windsor an affordable place to live and work. “We need to keep the tax burden as low as possible and that is a challenge. Taxes are the single largest bill most residents pay. For many their mortgage or rent include those high property taxes. High taxes make Windsor unaffordable for those on low limited or fixed incomes. Windsor has been successful at receiving State and Federal Grants. We see many apartments being built or in planning stages, the concern I see is overbuilding of this type of housing. Another concern we hear often is the empty buildings in the center and around town. These are policy issues this next Town Council will need to work on.” |
