Jim Durant
Town Council |
I have lived in Windsor for over 25 years. During this time, I have witnessed many changes, both positive and negative.
I love living in Windsor, the charm of the public green and its fountain are hard to find elsewhere. Windsor’s long historic past only adds to its charm. If I am elected to the Town Council I will work to see that Windsor keeps its appeal while looking forward to the uncertain future. For me, it is time to move forward together. I was born in Orange County, California, and moved to Connecticut in 1988 due to a job relocation with Combustion Engineering (now GE). I hold a degree in Chemical Engineering which has equipped me with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. I have been happily married to my wife Laurie for 27 years. Laurie is a long-time resident of Windsor and is a Windsor High graduate, as was her large family. I helped raise my two stepdaughters, Sarah and Rachael, both of whom are Windsor High and college graduates. Both have successful lives. I have traveled extensively for my work, mostly in India and Southern Asia. I have lived in both New Delhi, India, and Jakarta, Indonesia which taught me how to work with a diverse range of people. I retired from General Electric 8 years ago after 35 years of service. Since retiring, I have served as the Treasurer for the Windsor Republican Town Committee for the past 6 years and I have been an active Commissioner on the Zoning Board of Appeals for several years. As a private citizen, I collaborated with Former Mayor Don Trinks to install public chess boards outside the Windsor Library. I enjoy staying active and working with my hands, and I have a woodworking shop.
My campaign is self-funded. Please make a donation to the WRTC here instead. |

Kristin G Hoffman
Town Council |
My name is Kristin Gluck Hoffman, but many call me Krissy. I have been a proud resident of Windsor for 27 years, where I have raised my daughter Grace. Currently, I am employed as an Executive Assistant to the General Counsel of a Bank. My professional journey has been rooted in finance and business administration, but my true passion lies in helping others.
Volunteering has been a significant part of my life since a young age, thanks to the influence of my parents and grandparents. They dedicated their lives to the service of others through military, church, and community organizations. I followed in their footsteps, starting in my small community of Mendham, New Jersey, and continuing when I moved to Windsor, Connecticut. In Windsor, I became involved with St. Gabriel’s Church, teaching Sunday School, which allowed me to meet many wonderful community members. I also spent five years with the Junior League of Hartford and held various roles such as Past President and former member of the Windsor Junior Woman's Club, and former member and Past President of The Exchange Club of Windsor. Additionally, I served as Secretary for the Windsor Arts Center. One of my most cherished experiences has been volunteering for the Shad Derby, where I dedicated approximately 24 years to this time-honored Windsor tradition, serving in roles from volunteer to Coronation Ball Chair, Secretary for the Shad Fest Bureau, Festival Chair, and Shad Fest Bureau President. Currently, I am a member of the Kiwanis club and a member of the Windsor Town Council, where I sit on the Personnel Committee for the town. Last year, I ran for State Senate against Doug McCrory. Although the outcome wasn't what I had hoped for, it provided me with a valuable perspective on Connecticut politics, our districts, and the community's passions and pride. My business experience has prepared me for many challenges, and my service to others has taught me the importance of understanding all sides of people, life, and the community. It is our responsibility to nurture and protect the fundamentals of society. As a two-term councilor, I have worked hard to build a strong foundation with the community and my fellow councilors. My goal is to help the Town Council continue to operate as a partnership, moving away from the division that seems to be prevalent in politics today. I firmly believe that choosing a path of service or politics should be done with the intention of supporting and doing what is best for the constituents, not for personal gain. I am reminded of the wisdom my parents and grandparents imparted to me: "You should always be willing to help others, and when you have the least, you should give the most." This guiding principle continues to inspire me in my efforts to serve our community. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I look forward to continuing to work together to make Windsor an even better place for all. Donate to Krissy's campaign here. |

Ronald C Eleveld
Town Council |
Ronald Eleveld was born and raised in Windsor, CT. He is a graduate of Windsor High Class of ’78. Ronald has remained in Windsor with his wife, Michele and daughter Analiese. Ron is the President of The Financial Advantage Group, a financial services firm with an office in Windsor.
Ron has always believed we should give back to our community. Ron has maintained an active involvement in civic groups in Windsor over the years. He is a current member and past President and current Treasurer of the Windsor-Windsor Locks Rotary Club, Treasurer of the Windsor Rotary Charitable Fund, and a member of the Windsor Masonic Building Association where he has served as both President and Treasurer. He is a member and Past Master, past Trustee, and current Auditor of Washington Lodge #70 AF & AM. He is also a Rotary representative/member of the Shad Fest Bureau, and Incorporator, and President of the Shad Fest Foundation and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CREC Foundation. Mr. Eleveld has served on the Board of Education, 2013-2015, and 2017-2021 and on the Town Council 2007-2011 and is currently serving on the Town Council in his 2nd term and as a member of the Finance Committee. He is committed to keeping Windsor an affordable place to live and work. “We need to keep the tax burden as low as possible and that is a challenge. Taxes are the single largest bill most residents pay. For many their mortgage or rent include those high property taxes. High taxes make Windsor unaffordable for those on low limited or fixed incomes. Windsor has been successful at receiving State and Federal Grants. We see many apartments being built or in planning stages, the concern I see is overbuilding of this type of housing. Another concern we hear often is the empty buildings in the center and around town. These are policy issues this next Town Council will need to work on.” Donate to Ron's campaign here. |

I am honored to have been chosen as a candidate for Town Council by the Windsor Republicans. I have the organizational skills to work with a large budget, and to work with diverse people. I have worked with and written company policies and procedures and organized systems to enhance standards.
I was born in Jamaica but grew up and attended school in New York State. My heritage includes relatives from India. We appreciate and respect the immigration process. We value and respect the many opportunities given to us to excel at many levels in the United States of America in jobs, education, and as business owners. Town Councilors have a responsibility to promote public safety and take care of our roads and buildings. The Council must be fiscally responsible with taxpayers at all times.I have been a resident of Windsor for the past six years where I live with my daughter. I am a single mother who raised my daughter while working many jobs to pay the bills. I taught my daughter how to live within our means, and how to achieve success through education. Today, my daughter is a successful and contributing member of our Windsor community. In the community I am active with The First Cathedral, and the West Indian Community. I look forward to working with other Town Council members and know that our teamwork is essential to the success of Windsor. I am a Jamaican immigrant, and as an American Citizen I am honored to pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all, and am grateful for the opportunities this country has provided for me. Lisette LaTorre-Muszynski
Board of Education |
My husband and I moved to Windsor in 2016 after falling in love with its welcoming community. Windsor captured my heart as the town I knew I could happily live in and eventually retire in.
I am pursuing a position on the Windsor Board of Education to advance a strategic vision for academic excellence. This includes elevating curriculum standards, promoting equity in learning outcomes, and empowering educators through targeted professional support. I also advocate for student agency, ensuring they are active participants in their education. I have over a decade of experience in education. My career in public education began when I accepted a position as a site manager for a public school sponsored after school program. After a year I took a position as a paraeducator and currently I’m working at a central administrative office as an HR Specialist with a strong background in employee benefits. I’m currently pursuing a certification that will empower me to design employee benefits allowing me to better understand one of the Board’s largest expenditures - employee benefits. In addition to my career in education and benefits, I proudly served on the Windsor Human Relations Commission. I have served on the WHRC for four years, and I am currently in my second year as the Chairman. That role has given me deep insight into the concerns and hopes of Windsor residents and strengthened my commitment to transparent, collaborative leadership. I look forward to partnering with Windsor Public Schools' administration to make our district a model of academic excellence, fiscal stewardship, and forward-thinking leadership for generations to come. In addition to her professional work, she plays an active role in supporting her husband’s successful small business in the trucking industry, demonstrating her commitment to family, entrepreneurship, and teamwork. Maxine has always believed in the transformative power of education, and now feels it is the right time to step forward and serve the Windsor community on the Board of Education. Her goal is to strengthen the connection between comprehensive health, student well-being, and academic success. She is especially passionate about:
Her commitment to civic engagement includes past service on the Riverfront Recapture Community Advisory Board, involvement with the CT Historical Society and the West Indian Independence Celebration Committee, and cultural work with the Taste of the Caribbean Arts and Culture CT, Inc. She also has a background in media through work on both radio and television. When she’s not serving her community, you can find her enjoying music, reading, swimming, or spending cherished time with family and friends. Maxine is eager to contribute her energy, experience, and love for Windsor to help ensure every child receives a high-quality, holistic education. It is critical that our students are taught at an early age, and overtime, become accustomed to being academically challenged with confidence. The goal is to have our students be intellectually equipped to positively impact humanity, and lead fulfilling lives. This can only be achieved in partnership with our parents, students, teachers, all levels of Windsor's Educational Administrators and community partners. Donate to Maxine's campaign here. |

Paul J Panos
Board of Education |
Born in Lewiston, Maine and educated at the University of Maine in Engineering, graduating in 1966. Began work as a power boiler engineer for Combustion Engineering of Windsor. Interrupted work to serve in the Army from 1966 to 1969. Returned to Combustion Engineering in 1970 as a power boiler design engineer. I received a Master’s Degree in economics from the University of Connecticut, while working. Combustion Engineering eventually became part of GE. I retired in 2017.
My wife, Denise, is a recently retired Speech Pathologist (Windsor Public Schools). Together we raised three children who went through the Windsor Public School System. They graduated in 1999, 2002, and 2005. I have been a member of the Windsor Board of Education since 1997, except for two years, from 2017 – 2019. I returned to the Windsor Board of Education in 2019. I am committed to serve Windsor Public Schools, and help to raise the academic performance of its students. Due to my long tenure on the Board, I have a detailed historical perspective of the failed and damaging educational fads that have come and gone, with some remaining and others returning under new names with slight variations. They are all introduced with great fanfare that they will “transform” education and lead to great achievements for all students. But Windsor academic scores have been declining over the decades. The data from standardized tests show that 60% to 65% of Windsor’s finishing eighth graders are at least one year behind in language arts and math, with large percentages being two and three years behind. Scarcely 25% of them are at or above the eighth-grade level. But they are all promoted to the High School. Clearly, what we have been doing does not work. These educational fads are called programs, models, or frameworks. They are each marketed with a fancy name, but share many common features. They exist at all school levels, but are most commonly applied at the elementary level; less so at the middle school level, and least at the High School level. Some names are “Whole Language,” “Accelerated schools,” “Basic School Model,” “Scientifically Researched Based Instruction,” (SRBI), and MTSS, or “multitiered systems of supports.” These are fads that overemphasize some small aspect of traditional instruction to the exclusion of all others – especially direct instruction, minimum standards for promotion, and levelled classes based on competitive performance. None of them require that a student know the material of the grade they are in before being promoted. None of them prepare students for the competitive world of knowledge that we live in. I think it is essential that Windsor Public Schools require rigorous standards for promotion, beginning in the first grade, and that our students be required to compete academically for levels within each grade. It is only by becoming accustomed from a young age to such high stakes academic competition that they will acquire real knowledge and be able to compete successfully in a world-wide market for intellectual talent.
